It can last anywhere from four hours to three days and may prevent people from enjoying in their daily activities.

Migraines are not typical headaches. The base of migraine usually comes along the excessive stimulation of brain and blood vessels. Studies confirm that it affects one in every ten people around the world. Most people who experience migraine opt for medications and this can act as a pain relief in intrinsic conditions. But these medications do not cure the problem as it only gives relief to the existing stage of pain. But now with time, many are turning to ayurvedic therapies to treat migraines so the pain management becomes an easy task. Natural therapies along with relaxation techniques can be useful for managing pain in the case of migraine. With suitable lifestyle altering and ayurvedic therapies, one can find the key in treating migraines.

In Ayurveda, Migraine is known as Sooryavata as it rises after the sunrise and get to the peak by noon and will get reduced by the evening. Out of the three doshas, Vata and Pitta are prominent in migraines. The conventional discipline of Ayurveda does not judge Migraine as a case of prolonged headaches. On the contrary, it considers this state to be triggered by deep-rooted complications, including a sensitive nervous system and impaired digestion. There are certain ayurvedic treatments that come in handy when there is severe pain categorized as migraine. These solution acts as a pain management system for migraines in subtle stages.

Sneha Nasya

This therapy is formulated by Ayurveda and is administered through the nasal route to help manage pain above the shoulders. A certain mix of thailas is combined in this process and this will be dropped into the nasal tract. This treatment eases the neck and shoulder pain, caused as a result of a migraine.

Shirovasti

In this therapy the outer head is covered with a leather cap and this contains a hollow space inside the cap so that the Vata-Pitta pacifying oils can be held in that cap for a certain period. This therapy is extensively useful to treat migraines and depressions.

Shirodhara

Shirodhara is an ayurvedic method where a thin stream of warm fluid is poured over the scalp from a certain height. This process requires natural medicated oils. The continuous stream of oil creates a vibration on the forehead, which allows the mind to experience a deep state of mental rest.

Shirolepa

It is a technique in which a paste made from herbs like sandalwood, camphor, or jatamansi is applied to the forehead of a patient to pacify the Pitta dosha. Before applying the paste, any Vata-Pitta pacifying oils are applied on the forehead. This application is covered with plantain leaf for an hour and is then wiped off.

Ayurveda also suggests having a good amount of sleep, a proper balanced diet and intake of adequate amount of water to decrease the attacks of a migraine. With sufficient lifestyle changes and ayurvedic medications, Migraine can be conquered.
