Purvakarma

Vata, derived from Space and Air, translates to ‘that which move things’ and is often called the ‘King of Doshas’ as it controls body’s life force and gives motion to the other two Doshas – Pitta and Kapha. The qualities of Vata are dry, rough, light, cold, subtle, and mobile. An individual who constitutes of Vata will display physical and mental characteristics that reflect these qualities in both a balanced and an imbalanced state.

Vamana

Nasya

Nasya is one of the forms of Panchakarma in which the nasal lubrication process is carried out. Through this Panchakarma treatment, we eliminate excess body humors that exists in the sinus, nose, throat and head. The humors are expelled from the body through nose. Under Nasya treatment, an individual has to inhale herbal steam, which clears excess mucus and treats all disorders found above the clavicle.

Raktamokshana

Raktamokshana, which means ‘let out blood’, is an effective blood purification therapy where in small quantities of blood is removed to neutralize accumulated Pitta toxins of many blood borne diseases. The two main types of Raktamokshana are Shastra Visravana, a process using metal instruments, and Anushastra Visravana, performed without the use of metal instruments. The process is both a preventive and a curative therapy.

Basti/Vasti

Basti or Vasti is an enema therapy which is categorized into anuvasana basti where medicated oil enemas are introduced into the body, and niruha basti where enemas of decoctions and medicated oils are drunk. This treatment is much beneficial for vata disorders and helps relieve constipation, sexual disorders, kidney stones and other pains of the joints. Other vata disorders like arthritis, rheumatism, gout and headaches are cured with basti.
